What we collect
When you leave a comment, we collect the information you enter in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user-agent string for spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar ↗ to fetch your profile photo if you use that service. If you upload images, strip any embedded GPS/EXIF location data first — that metadata is publicly accessible to anyone who downloads the file.
Cookies & embedded content
Leaving a comment lets you opt in to cookies that save your name, email, and site address for one year so you don’t have to re-enter them. Login sessions set cookies lasting two days (or two weeks if you choose “Remember Me”); screen-preference cookies last one year. Embedded third-party content — videos, images, external articles — behaves exactly as if you visited that site directly and may carry its own cookies and tracking.
Your data, your rights
Comment text and its metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized automatically. If you have an account, you control your profile information and can update or delete it at any time. You may request a full export of any personal data we hold, or ask us to erase it — except data we’re legally required to keep. Visitor comments pass through an automated spam-detection service before approval.
Questions about your data? Reach us directly through the contact page — a real person will respond.
